Public Speaking Exam?

So I have to do Public Speaking Exam to my english class on any subject of my choice, however I'm not used to having free choice on these sorts of things, usually get told what to talk about...

Anyway could you give me a subject I could talk to my class about for 2-5 minutes (age 15-16); I was thinking on talking to them about how video games do not cause violence in young children, but that subject seems way to hard.

Many thanks.

  1. Well you could talk about blogs, my space, sneakers, the price of school supplies, or video games, or you could talk about how airplanes fly.  This is a very interesting concept.  Not everyone knows this.  Did you know that the wind needs to get under the wing to lift it of the ground?  But for that you need speed that's why you have the engines.  Good luck!

  2. I would not use a topic that's debatable.  It would be easier to talk about something that would capture someone's interest - a "for your info" type of topic.  What would be appealing to your age group that would capture your audience?  What is something they would like to know more about?  Keep in mind that your eye contact directed to your audience is key.  Also, wear clothing that is appealing to the eye, not like a zebra stripe that would want to make a person look away from you.  Try to memorize as much of your topic as possible so that you do not appear to be reading all the time.  Be careful of waving your hands all around.  Good luck!

  3. Make this one easy on yourself!

What do you know a heckalot about? If you pick something you already have familiarity with, your audience will hear your 'passion', or feeling, provided you put that in there.

You have a hobby? A problem you overcame? Something you find yourself talking about frequently?

    Best wishes.
