  1. The City of Pearland is not in Metro’s Service area; meaning Pearland residents do not pay taxes to Metro to provide service in the Greater Houston Area.

For this reason getting an agreement with Metro is more complicated than Missouri City and Clear Lake (City of Houston) which are taxpaying entities.

The City of Pearland is concerned and working on solutions.

The city currently participates and supports a van pool ride program.  You can contact for more information and to participate you call 713.555.1234 or get more details on www.vanpool.org

The City is also taking the lead in exploring the feasibility for a Park and Ride to serve northern Brazoria County.  Information supplied by the Texas Medical Center indicates that many residents of northern Brazoria County and some that are also Pearland residents commute into the Medical Center everyday.  Since the Brazoria County and the City of Pearland are not within Metro's service area and, therefore, not tax supported by local residents, the City and Brazoria County need to find a way to fund such a program.  Metro will inform you quickly that the modest fares that they charge cover only a small portion of the actual cost.
