Public and Employer Insurances?

I am a sole trader who has won a contract with a large construction company. They have asked for copies of my public and employer insurances. I have public liability but nothing else. i do employ a casual labourer but have nothing in place for this.

Am i breaking any rules?

Is what i have sufficient

  1. Yes you should have Employers Liability cover... everything you really need to know is the Health & Safty Executive brochure you can find via link below.

    So I won't say much more aprt from congrats on winning that contract !

You need to speak to an insurance broker and get employers liability cover. if one of your casual labourer's injures themselves in the course of employment for you they can sue you for their injuries. If you don't have the insurance you could face financial ruin. Its not worth the risk or losing the contract.

  3. If you have won yourself a good contract you need to be squeaky clean on everything, so speak to either businesslink, accountant or an Insurance broker.
