Question:

Public high school isn't accepting me?

Alright so here's the situation. I used to go to a private school, and all but I figured it's just a huge waste of money.

So I wanted to go to this public school but when I went there, they didn't accept me because they claimed that my Home School isn't that. We thought it was our home school, but realized that somehow "THE OPTION FOR THAT BEING A HOME SCHOOL HAS BEEN CLOSED." So yea, my Home School though would be some public school, that let's just say is filled with...well gang activity. They've had some incidents reported in newspapers and stuff.

So then I just did the intra-district transfer. I got the help of the admissions director in my actual HOME school, he signed it and everything and we sent it off to the other school. The other school, didn't respond at ALL. It was like they didn't care. So we had to call them up and ask whether they got it. Guess what they're response was?

"OH YEAH, I got IT - I'm LOOKING AT IT RIGHT NOW" - honestly you expect me to believe that kind of c**p?!?! So then the guy started saying I can't come to the school because of enrollment. So then we asked if we could have an appointment with him. He said sure.

Oh yeah "sure." He made us wait for a whole HOUR from our scheduled appointment. He didn't help at all, he just kept on repeating the words that I couldn't come. He says the teachers will have trouble with just one more student.

I don't mean to brag here...but would a student with a 3.8 GPA, finished taking college courses and got an A on both, and is just extremely quiet when it comes to class be trouble to a teacher? I mean if they are truly a teacher...wouldn't they love to teach students. I guess not. Oh well fine.

So then we made phone calls to the principal. She said she couldn't make an appointment with us. "Wow, thanks for the help lady." We called up the Superintendent; he wouldn't make an appointment with us.

We can't talk with anyone. We have no help whatsoever. My parents are paying high taxes. And by "high" I mean high. And they don't even help us at all?

Any suggestions guys? I would really appreciate it.

  2. Get into a private school!

  3. I don't understand why you are fighting so hard to get into a school where you think no one is helpful.  Doesn't make sense to me....

Go to the school assigned to your district (your home school as you called it) regardless of the gang activity.  Do what you need to do at that school, stay away from the element that you are concerned about, and if it is really bad then try to switch again next school year.   However, realize this, they may still not switch you.  Life is like that.

Oh, and as for blaming the teachers for this - you are way out of line.  Yes, teachers would love to have classrooms full of students like you claim you are.  However, there are contracts in place (that limit the number of students to a classroom), procedures to follow, and administrators that make decisions for various reasons.

Also, I don't know if school has started in your area, or will soon, but I know at this time of the year many principal's and superintendent's have summer schedule's, meaning they are in the office less.  This also means they have less time to meet as they are also getting budget's from cities, and dealing with new teacher orientation, and the like.

Honestly, I don't really understand what kind of "help" you are looking for from them.  By "help" do you mean getting your way?  That's not help.

Good luck with what ever comes your way.

  4. Why don't you continue on like you have an and learn at home on your own and when they time comes go to the local community college and get a head start on your college education. Sounds like you are doing great on your own and going to Public school is just gonna bring you down. Why would you want to take two steps back instead of two steps forward and get a headstart over everyone else that goes to a public school. The education you would receive is less than acceptable. You would learn more by sitting in a library all day.
