Question:

Public liability insurance & professional qualifications?

Hi

I teach pole dancing and need to get public liability insurance as I am leaving the company I currently teach for (and whose insurance I am currently covered by). Do I need any professional qualifications to hold public liability insurance?

No such qualifications exist specifically for pole dancing, but I could do Exercise to Music or something similar. I have not done this yet as I have years of experience in dancing and exercise so feel it would teach me nothing new, but would be more than happy to do it if my insurance was dependant on it.

  1. No you do not need a professional qualification to get public liability insurance.

If you go to http://www.coverzones.com you can compare the market for the best prices for your public liability insurance.  You should be able to get £1m of cover from about £100.

  2. No, you don't need any proffesional qualifications. My husband is a street performer and is required to have public liability and has no qualifications. Good luck

  3. No you do not need any qualifications to purchase / hold public liability insurance.

Essentially public liability will cover you in the unfortunate event that legal proceedings are brought against you by a customer or a member of the public following injury or damage to their property. This cover is available for anybody whether you are a window cleaner through to a pole dancer like yourself.

  5. no you dont require anyform of qualifications to obtain PL insurance, its standard insurance for anyone working in, with or around the public.

  6. Contact an independent agent in your area. An independent agent represents more than one company so they can contact insurance companies that specialize in providing insurance for fitness professionals.

There are several companies that will readily write this type of insurance so it should not be a problem securing the coverage.

  7. No, do not need any professional qualification to get public liability insurance.

I arranged cover recently for someone doing the same line of work. the premium was around £300 for £1,000,0000 cover.

Hope this is of some help
