Question:

Public petition for Brown to call a general election?

Labour MPs in the House of Commons received a total of 6.6 million votes (out of an electorate of over 44 million) and that was with Blair as leader - not the usurper and tyrant Gordon Brown.

Could a similar number of the electorate be persuaded to electronically sign a Number 10 petition of no confidence in the PM?

  1. The Liar pary listen to the people???never happen!.

  2. I will second that

  3. I hate to sound stupid but being an American how exactly is the PM determined? This is what I think I was told years ago but the house of commons or is the house of lords determined who the PM is that true? I know I could post this as a question but I figured here was as good as anyplace.

A popular vote is the best way that way the citizens get to actually participate in determining what way the country goes.

  4. Oh god please lets get this muppett out of downing street before we sink any further...bring on the Tories!!

  5. In this country we vote for a party at elections, not a leader.  The leader is elected by the party.

It's up to the PM when he calls an election, so a petition would be pointless.  Anyway, are you seriously saying David Cameron would be a better leader....??? Think about it.

  6. Yeah, that'll work!

  7. ......and if they don't will you concede defeat?

  8. The whole point of the Downing Street petition site, is that it can safely be ignored.

Members of Parliament are representative of constituencies.

They do NOT represent constituents. There is no statutory requirement for them do do so.

Governments have power because they have the means to enforce it. They do not however, apart from Switzerland, have the right to power.

Enshrined in international law, is the inalienable right of a people to self-determination. This right flows to the people and NOT to nations or governments.

Only Switzerland, as far as I know, has had it's constitution and thus its system of government, ratifed by the people. This happened in 1999.

All other countries, including the UK, thus fail to comply with international law.

As an aside, this also means that the EU has no legitimacy as a political entity, either now or after the Lisbon treaty is ratified by parliament.(Peoples so called representatives cannot exercise the right of self-determination on the peoples' behalf)

  9. Well you could always sign the official petition (and it does need signatures!)... link here

  10. Nice thought but it looks like we are stuck with him untill the next election unless they lose a vote of no confidence.

  11. times up brown its time to go

  12. I dont think it will work.I hate brown as well and I would like to do something about this sh:t government but I see most of the people dont bother to raise their voice.
