Question:

Public research university showing religious bias?

I attend a public university in Canada which receives 0.8 billion dollars from the federal government.

In the convocation, a line is read stating: "I charge you to use these degrees for the glory of God"

And, given the separation between church and state, this is inappropriate. The university has acknowledged this, but refuses to change the sentence.

Given that it receives government funding, is there any way for an external organization to have this changed?

  2. A little over the top, if you ask me.

Cutting off their funding for one line is excessive.

Surely you learned how to put your talents to good use there.

  3. There is no constitutional right to a separation of church and state (like in the US) so it is unlikely you can do much about it.
