  1. In point of Germany, I must tell you, that there are no public showers at all. On every big railway station you will find public toilets, even not always free of charge. Public showers are not common.

But on any station there is a information point, where you can ask  for anything. Perhaps they can give you a good advice.

  2. There's a company called McClean that operates WC services in Germany, Switzerland, and France - the hygiene centers include shower facilities. Sometimes I take the night train from Bologna to Munich for the day and have used the one at the station there - it's open from 6 am to midnight. It's not particularly cheap something between 5 and 10 euro as I remember it, but you get a half hour. The McClean is downstairs near the S-bahn.

They actually have a website where you can find addresses for their facilities. http://www.mcclean.ch/html/index.html - click on standorte and then select the country you're interested in. From the next page, you'll be able to select the cities where they have facilities and find the addresses. They are in Zurich and Munich, but apparently not in Hamburg or Bremen.

However, unless you're just in the station for a short layover between trains, the excellent suggestions from LaFeeFan are cheaper and more widely available.

  4. I don't think you will find any public shower on any train station in central Europe. The only suggestion for backpackers I can made is to use a public indoor swimming-bath (Hallenbad/ Openbare binnen zwembad) within the vicinity of the train station.
