  1. There are hundreds of sites that explain the process of getting a book published.  If you check out the writing/authors/publishing section of any large book store you will also find books to help you.  Here are a few links to get your started.

  2. The advice I give is from experience:

-Make sure you've edited your manuscript at least twice.

-Double-space the document and change all the fonts to a standard Times New Roman or Courier New, size 12.  No fancy fonts in a manuscript.

-Research literary agents and/or publishing companies that accept pieces that aren't from an agent.  Make sure that the agencies and/or publishers accept the genre of your manuscript

-Follow the requirements on each company's web site to "query" them with your piece.  They often ask for a simple summary of your manuscript and a sample (i.e. the first chapter or first twenty pages). I have found that companies who accept email queries with attached files or the samples printed in the email are easier to query than companies who only accept snail mail entries.

-Don't be discouraged by rejection.  Some bestselling authors were rejected over 200 times before acceptance.  If you really want your book published, you have to keep trying.

Good luck!  Hope you see your name in print someday!

  3. Write a book first than think about publishing it.

  4. By using the search bar and seeing the answers given to the last 439 people who asked this exact same question.

  5. Self-publish. Google it. But make sure you understand contracts, costs associated with it, etc BEFORE you sign any contract/s.
