Alright, I admit it sounds crazy, but I'm 17 and in the midst of trying to have one of my novels published, and been writing poetry like crazy. I post on many websites, including Writer's Digest Forum, and someone suggested I look into putting together a collection of my poetry for young adults.
I don't want to sound like I think too highly of myself, but many adults and teachers have told me my poetry is pretty good. Personally, do I think it's good enough for a book? Not really, but it seems like a good avenue to pursue while I wait on this book publishing dream to come true.
Has anyone ever heard of this? I'm no amateur to finding agents and sending query letters and that sort of thing, but I'm just curious as to how realistic this dream can be. I'm willing to work very hard; I already have proven this by completing my novel and getting a half dozen full manuscript requests.
In any case, let me know what you think.
