Question:

Pucks and Athletic Supporters?

I just found a website that claims all pucks are beginning to be made of tar? Is this factual information or not?

Also, if I'm going to go buy my first athletic supporter tomorrow, should I purchase one a size larger than I should so my "jewels" will fit in properly?

  1. i am 110% sure that they are not made of tar...the puck would change in characteristics. They would not do this. Maybe they made some pucks out of tar, but they dont use them in games.

U dont want it to be too loose, because you want your jewels to stay in there....make sure you buy one thats snug.

  2. Whatever supporter you get, make sure it fits nice and tight. I have a pair of the Easton compression shorts with a built in jock. The straps on the inside don't pull it really tight, and it rubs on the inside of my thigh. I have two big red spots on my thigh where my skin has been rubbed raw, and it also rubs and causes discomfort afterwards in a very alarming and private area. I've heard you can wear a cup, and then a pair of boxer briefs over them to keep it nice and tight.

  3. I'm pretty sure the tar thing is not true.

As for the supporter... whatever makes you comfortable.

  4. Pucks are absolutely not true. Rubber is required to make them right. synthetic rubber may be created from tar somehow though, if so it's hardly the end of the world.

Athletic Supporter. Do NOT. The sizes are not the cup sizes- those are typically adult and junior. sometimes there's a teen. If you're old enough, just get the adult.

The sizes indicate waist size- It will fall off if you get a size too big.

  5. The pucks only slide on the ice if they are cold rubber, so I don't see how they could be made of tar.
