Puducherry State Badminton Championship: Aruna. M wraps up Girl’s Singles U19 crown
India’s budding shuttler Aruna. M played to her maximum potential and easily won the Girl’s Singles crown after giving a severe lesson to her lower ranked compatriot Nivedha Srinivasan in the title match of 31st Puducherry State Badminton Championship
in India, on Sunday, August 12.
Aruna, who was top seed in Girl’s Singles U19 draw of the championship, played tremendous badminton in the final battle and easily overpowered her un-seeded challenger in an emphatic fashion.
The higher ranked Aruna put up a strong show of aggressive and controlled badminton as she remained in commanding position throughout the battle and easily wrapped up victory by ending the match in two games with a spectacular margin.
On the contrary, Nivedha failed to continue her gallant run in the final battle as she was quite helpless against the perfection and speed of her higher ranked opponent and knelt down in straight sets without showing her brilliance.
The top seeded Aruna did not let her opponent to adjust on court as she played aggressive badminton from opening points and took a stunning lead without consuming much time.
The in-form Aruna sailed smoothly on score board as she did not face a considerable resistance from her lower ranked rival and grabbed an incredible lead until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, the spirited Aruna remained on track while playing to her maximum potential. She did not commit unforced errors and kept her rival moving around in all areas.
The positive and aggressive play of Aruna helped her to win the first set of the match with a smashing 21-10 score on the board.
In the second game, Nivedha showed a few glimpses of her brilliance as she played impressive shots in opening rallies.
However, the un-seeded Nivedha could not maintain that rhythm and again remained behind on score board until the one-minute break.
After the break, Aruna progressed easily as she did not face any trouble from her opponent and eventually bagged the set with a 21-14 score on the board.
The passionate Aruna ended up the final clash against Nivedha in straight games with a staggering margin of 21-10 and 21-14.
