Puducherry State Badminton Championship: Nivedha Srinivasan wins Girl’s Singles U15 crown
India’s budding female shuttler Nivedha Srinivasan lived up to expectations as she won the Girl’s Singles U15 crown after beating her lower ranked country-mate Dillishwary in the title match at 31st Puducherry State Badminton Championship – III
Phase in India, on Sunday, August 12.
The top seeded Nivedha, who has been putting up spectacular show of top class badminton in all of her matches in the tournament, continued her staggering run in the final encounter and easily thrashed Dillishwary who was the fourth seed in the main draw.
The higher ranked Nivedha was one class above her opponent as she played remarkable badminton without taking any pressure and easily finished off the match in straight games with a huge difference on score board.
In the meanwhile, Dillishwary could not show her brilliance against the in-form Nivedha as she failed to execute her shots in gaps and also failed to cope up with the pace of rallies all the way in both games. She lost the final battle without taking away
any set from her higher ranked compatriot.
Nivedha was incredibly fast in opening rallies of first game as she played attacking badminton and took a superb lead without spending much time on the court.
The top seeded shuttler continued her commanding performance on court and easily established a superb lead until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, the Dillishwary tried to play with aggression but she could not take any advantage as Nivedha was impressive in her defensive shots.
The in-form Nivedha progressed on score board with an impressive speed and wrapped up the first game with a smashing 21-13 score on the board.
The spirited Nivedha continued her gutsy performance in the second game as she kept the pace of rallies quite high and again took a reasonable lead until one-minute break.
After the interval, the lofty Nivedha remained consistent in her positive play and did not let her rival to reduce the deficit at any stage.
Nivedha was quite aggressive in the ending phase of second game and she bagged it with a 21-17 score on the board.
The passionate Nivedha won the Girl’s Singles title after ending up the final match with a striking margin of 21-13 and 21-17.
