Puducherry State Badminton Championship: S. Sri Balaji storms into Boy’s Singles U19 quarter-final
India’s budding shuttler S. Sri Balaji stormed into Boy’s Singles U19 quarter-final after showing a gutsy performance in the round-of-16 contest when he outplayed his team-mate J. Vasanthavelan at the 31st Puducherry State Badminton Championship
– III Phase in India, on Saturday, August 11.
The passionate Balaji, who remained incredible throughout the tournament, continued showing his staggering skills on court as he played with impressive control in the entire battle and easily sent Vasanthavelan packing in a striking manner.
The in-form Balaji was on a different level while playing against Vasanthavelan as he employed his aggressive skills and emerged as the winner quite easily by ending up the match in straight games with a lopsided difference.
The confused Vasanthavelan, on the other hand, failed to get the mark while playing against his in-form opponent. He was quite helpless against the powerful smashes of Balaji and knelt down to him in straight games with a humiliating margin on the score
board.
The aggressive Balaji started his run on court in a commanding manner as he played attacking badminton while taking the bird early and established an early lead without facing any trouble.
In the meanwhile, Vasanthavelan failed to play positive badminton as he threw away many points by making un-forced errors and remained struggling to find a good flow.
However, Balaji was composed and collected in his temperament on court and he set up a staggering gap until the one-minute break in first set.
After the interval, the in-form Balaji continued showing his lofty craft while playing at his best speed. He did not drop down his speed at any stage and won the first game with a huge 21-11 score on the board.
The second game was completely lopsided when Balaji played flawless badminton by keeping a firm grip over the pace of rallies. He easily took a remarkable lead on board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Balaji continued his scintillating performance without facing any resistance and ended up the set with an incredible score of 21-6.
The aggressive Balaji easily registered a comprehensive victory over Vasanthavelan by finishing off the battle in straight sets with a huge 21-11 and 21-6 score on the board.
