Puerto Rican boxer John Molina wins against American Robert Frankel – Boxing news
The Puerto Rican national, John Molina, who fights at Lightweight and Super Featherweight divisions, defeated Robert ‘Red Hot’ Frankel of the US in their 10-round competitive bout last Friday, June 24, 2011.
The fight was held at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California, United States. The time was 3:00 of the fifth round, when the referee Raul Caiz Jr ruled the bout in favour of Molina.
In the first round, Molina looked defensive as he was not trying to come forward to dominate him. Frankel started the bout in a style landing punches directly to Molina’s body. The American national Lightweight, Robert Frankel hurt Molina in the second round
who afterwards went to land combination of punches on to him. Frenkel’s both eyes were bleeding.
The ringside doctor after examining him, advised the referee to halt the bout in the fifth round as he was not able to open his right eye.
The 30-year-old, Orthodox stance, Frankel faced the number ten loss of his career. Frankel fought 39 of his total fights of which he won 28 competitive bouts including 5 knockout victories with ten considerable losses and one draw to his career.
In his first professional bout, Frankel lost technical knockout decision against Hector Munoz at the Tingley Coliseum in New Mexico, United States in 2003. After winning six of his consecutive fights, Frankel faced the second loss of his career when he lost
the six-round unanimous points decision against Christian Bejarano in 2004 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, United States.
The 46-year-old, Orthodox stance, Molina turned professional in 1986 winning against Harrah’s Marina Hotel Casino in Atlantic City, United States.
Molina won 16 consecutive fights at the start of his professional career. The first loss came his way, when Lupe Suarez won a ninth round technical knockout decision against him in 1987 at the Memorial Coliseum in Texas, United States.
Molina lost the chance of winning the IBF Super Featherweight title against Tony Lopez in their 12-round bout in 1988 at the Arco Arena in California.
