  1. Greetings,

I just got back from PR 2 days ago.

Its not expensive to travel to PR and back if you check your local carrier and plan at least 15 days in advance. As little as 5 if you want to back pack. (cause the remaining seats sell out cheaper) .

You can travel out to San Juan and hang out in Town or venture out to the neighboring towns by bus.  Which costs no more than 50 to 75 cents.  You will only need a car if you plan to travel into another part of town. IE Humacao, Ponce, Arecebio etc....

So much to do and so much fun is to be had.  It all depends on what you want to do.  Do you like museums, art, music, clubbing?  There are so many things to do for all ages.  A rountrip ticket should cost you no more than 330 RT and from EWR it is 20-30 bucks cheaper.

My husband and I went to a great club with a local in Rio Piedras, by the university and these kids partied till the next morning.  It was nuts, we had such a great time.

Feel free to ask and I can send you a couple of links to the local areas I went to as well as the towns we drove to.  Had we known we would of spent more time tanning instead of wasting away on a tour @ Bacardi (BOrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring).

Hope you have a great time, should you decide.

  2. san antonio spurs.

  3. Well, that depends if you are flying out of Washington State or Florida, the further the trip, the more expensive it will be. You live in N.J., so I think it will be below $400.00 round trip. Check airline sites and compare airline prices. In the summer the flights will be cheaper than if you go in the winter which is the "on" season.

If you want to just hang around San Juan (Capital),you will not need a car. but if you want to see the rest of the island you will have to rent a car which you can do here (U.S.) via a car rental website, or there if you decide to rent a car once you are there.

The scenery is breath-taking. The sky is so blue, the mountains are so green, and the beaches are just beautiful.

There's camping, horse back-riding, yatching, surfing, scuba diving, sail-boating, sight-seeing, caves, ceremonial indian grounds, theater plays, classical music concerts, the worlds' largest radio telescope, dancing, museums, a rainforest, phosphorescent bay, and all the towns' squares and photo opportunities. Every town has a fiesta patronal (mardi-gras), check calendar to see which town will have one while you are there.

You can stay in Isla Verde, the hotels are cheaper there, and El Condado and Old San Juan are just "around the corner", these are the "happening" places.

The people are friendly. Take a Spanish/English phrase book and start practicing now.

You can live off Burger King or eat a meal fit for a king at a very fancy restaurant.

The music and club variety is limitless, so check the free English news papers in old San Juan, they offer detailed lists of clubs.

The clubs are great! "Planet Hollywood" and other well known clubs are there. Be aware some clubs have a dress code, so make sure you take at least one set of nice clothing (slacks, button-down shirt, tie, dress shoes, jacket). All your clothing should be light cotton, shorts, t-s***s and sandals will be your daily outfit. Take bug spray and suncreen, you'll need it. Women should not wear short-shorts in public, is not appropiate outside a pool or beach area.

As with any other place, do not take expensive jewerly with you, you will not need it there. Also, do not flash your money, go to the ATM early, only take one or two credit cards, leave the rest at home. Use the same common sense you use at home and you will be fine.

Welcome to Puerto Rico, Bienvenido a Puerto Rico!

  4. You need to check airfares-they change daily!  You should be able to get a RT from NJ/PA for about $350.  Remember, some airlines are now charging for checked luggage and they don't supply food any more, so those are additional charges.

You may need a car depending on where you choose to stay and what you plan to do while here.  Public transportation is pretty poor here.

There is a lot to do,much of it can be expensive.  But you should be able to find some fun stuff on a budget.

OSJ is free and there is lots of things to do there.  Hiking in El Yunque is free, the beaches are free.

For a fee, some really cool stuff to do: ATV rides, BioBay trips, ZipLine tour  etc.

Food ranges in price from fast food and local places for cheap to really gourmet and expensive.

People in PR are generally very friendly and helpful.

The clubs are great, there are all types and styles of music available. But sometimes there is a dress code and age restrictions.
