  1. My musts would be:

Old San Juan- check out the town- forts, museums, bars, restaurants, architecture  etc.

El Yunque rain forest- do some hiking, swim in the waterfall.

Go to the beach- Isla Verde, Monserate (in Luquillo) or best yet- take a day and go to Culebra's Flamenco beach.

BioBay trip- the one is Fajardo is good, try to get to the one in Vieques- really good!

Other than that-  other fun stuff:ATV, horseback riding, snorkeling/snuba, zip lines, Segways.   All sorts of neat stuff!

Check out my travel site for information on all this stuff (and other fun ideas)!:

  2. Old san Juan - 2 forts, cathedral, museums, squares, governors mansion & gardens, local music and artisans on a weekend down by the cruise ship piers

    Bio Bay from Fajrado

  3. You didn't say where you are staying, but, as everyone else mentioned: Old San Juan is a great spot for sightseeing, shopping, and eating.  If you find yourself in Old San Juan at breakfast, lunch or coffee/snack time go to La Bombonera (San Franciso): a San Juan institution! Open in the same spot since 1902 - its like a coffee shop with pastries, local specialties, sandwiches and it is cheap, cheap, cheap. Super popular with locals. Great coffee. We went for breakfast every day. They make this ham and cheese sandwich topoped with powdered sugar. It is something else!

Do get up to El Convento - have a drink in the Courtyard or tapas bar. Very pretty. And of course - You need to go to the Hilton Caribe (in Condado): The oldest Hilton still running AND the bar that invented the Pina Colada! Enjoy!!!!!!

  4. My favorite parts of Puerto Rico:

Bioluminescent Bays - the one in Fajardo is the best, and if you have the option take the kayak rather than the group boat at any of them that you do.

El Yunque National Forest (rainforest) for hiking and great photography

Cave tours: Rio Camuy Cave system is the 3rd largest in the world. Plus more hiking and photography

Arecibo Observatory: nice museum and site of the biggest dish in the northern hemisphere - or was, not sure it still is (a must for X-file fans, astronomy lovers or people that just like interesting stuff)
