Puffy Gums????

Ok i got braces and then my gums just got way puffy so.....what do i do? My dentist always says good brushing is it because my braces?

  1. It is common to see an overgrowth of tissue from braces. Food gets trapped under the gums and without proper flossing or brushing can cause the inflammation. The only solution is to floss and brush gently above the brackets (along the gumline) even if it bleeds, over time the gums will heal and the bleeding will stop. Another thing could be an allergy as nickel is used in the brackets and wires so if you have a nickel allergy that could cause the inflammation too. The only way to know for sure is if you have excellent hygiene but still have the swelling then it is likely an allergy.
