I got my pug about 1 1/2 yrs ago. When I took her to the vet they squeezed her glands. I haven't noticed her needing it again. However everytime she barks she stinks. I'm wondering if maybe if that because her glands are full. Any ideas?

  1. If she smells like something she ate died in her mouth its her teeth and she probably has some type of abscess and needs immediate dental care.  If she is passing gas and expresses when she barks from the pressure coming from her abdomen you may need to change your dog food or quit feeding her table food if you do that.  I have a pug and 4 other dogs.  My retriever cannot express her own glands and i have to take her in to get it done and none of my dogs ever smelled like that. I would say check her teeth especially in the far back and see if they are white or brown and if the gums are pink or black.  Changes in the gums show infection in your dog.  Brown teeth would show she needs them cleaned. This is very common in small dogs.

  2. You dog could have a gum disease.

  3. My friend's girlfriend has a Pug and it is always farting.  I wouldn't be surprised if when it barks it is also just farting a little bit.  May sound funny but her dog stinks all the time from gas. lol

  4. She may possibly just have gas.  If she needed her glands expressed, she'd probably be either rubbing her rear on the floor or, like what my little guy does, starts l*****g and chewing on his rear end until his backside is completely soaked, because he's uncomfortable.  If this concerns you, maybe give your vet a call and see if she needs to come in to be checked out.
