Stoke City manager, Tony Pulis, has called upon his side to grab maximum points from their next EPL fixture against Sunderland on Saturday.
The Welshman was of the opinion that the Potters have already played out their games against the Premier League’s big guns of Manchester United, Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. Hence, their upcoming matches will be far less demanding and
called upon them to bag as many points as they can out of them.
The Britannia outfit are currently placed 13th in the league table, having pocketed 8 points from as many fixtures.
Last week, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis’ troops were hammered 4-2 at Manchester United. Earlier, they secured a draw against Arsenal, Liverpool and City and were narrowly edged by Chelsea.
Following their defeat last week, Stoke will next play Sunderland at the Britannia Stadium this coming weekend.
Pulis believes that it is prudent that the Potters get their EPL campaign back on track with a win over the Black Cats.
However, he said that it won’t be an easy walk in the park for them and cautioned his side against complacency.
“Every game at this level is a tough one and Saturday will be no different,” he told the club’s official website.
“I've got tremendous respect for Martin O’Neill and for Sunderland Football Club, and we know that this is going to be a big test for us.”
Stoke have only managed a single win so far this season, that against Swansea City at home. Nonetheless, they have remained a difficult side to beat, particularly at home, where they are yet to taste defeat.
As the team prepares for the Sunderland fixture, the 54-year old feels that they can make the home factor count to their advantage.
He urged the fans to stand behind their team and expected a noisy and boisterous support from them.
“We need the supporters right behind us when we take on Sunderland… The supporters have been fantastic whenever we have needed that backing, and I am sure they will do that again,” he added.
Sunderland edged Stoke 1-0 during their visit to the Britannia Stadium last season.
