Stoke City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis, has insisted that his side won’t get carried away, after a win against Newcastle United on Wednesday enabled them to break into the top half of the table.
The Potters came back from behind to record a thrilling 2-1 win over the Magpies at the Britannia Stadium. The result kept their unbeaten record at home intact and allowed them to leapfrog multiple teams to claim the ninth slot in the table.
However, it meant a totally different thing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew’s men, as it was their fourth league defeat on the bounce. The Sports Direct Arena boss will surely be feeling the heat now, with the memories of the team’s elimination from the competition in 2009
likely to be rekindled in the minds of the fans.
The Tyneside outfit have mustered just 14 points from as many games and are just 2 points away from safety.
Newcastle looked set to stop their recent rut, as Papiss Cisse struck just after the break to give his side the lead against the tempo of the play. After resolutely defending their rearguard for almost 80 minutes, their defence finally caved in as the Potters
clinched the tie in the space of four minutes with Jon Walters and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cameron-Jerome-c8284 netting in a goal apiece.
Despite seeing his side break into the better half of the table, Pulis refused to over congratulate his team over the feat.
He urged them to keep their feet on the ground, but nevertheless, unravelled his delight upon their remarkable recent form.
“We won't get carried away, we've had a couple of very good results at home, to take six points from Fulham and Newcastle is very, very pleasing,” he told the reporters.
“But at this football club whether we're third from bottom or ninth it makes no difference, we just carry on what we do and we do it to the best of our ability… I think in the end we deserved to win the game.”
It was also the first time this term that Stoke has recorded back-to-back wins. Last week, they edged Fulham 1-0 at the Britannia Stadium.
