Stoke City manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440 Pulis, has revealed that his earlier comments related to Swansea City’s playing style were taken out of context, and that he respected the way the Welsh club played their football.
Earlier in February, the Welshman had remarked that the Potters fans will not welcome the ‘tiki-taka’ playing style, following their 2-0 triumph over the Swans at the Britannia Stadium.
With both the sides set to lock horns at the same venue on Saturday, Pulis moved to clarify his comments.
He explained that he was just talking about a certain playing philosophy that did not suit his team, and that every club adopted a style most suitable to their players and structure.
“I might have said we play through the pitch quicker than Swansea,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“But there's no right or wrong way of playing football. If you have certain strengths and qualities, you play to them.”
The 54-year old, who has managed 6 different teams during his coaching career, said that at the end, it’s just the results which matter, no matter what playing style a club adopts.
Despite putting up some impressive performances this term, the Potters are currently short of points in the table.
They drew all of their first four league matches, before losing out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 at Stamford Bridge last Saturday.
Stoke will be looking to record their first win since April, as they host the Welsh outfit on Saturday.
However, Pulis is well aware of the dangers that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup’s unit can pose.
He was of the opinion that the Swans will go into the match as underdogs, and will come out all guns blazing.
“If we do have a little bit of a stumble, which you always do over a period of time, they will be there to pick us up,” he added.
“I think they can see what we are trying to do. These things take time, but good players are coming into the club that supporters appreciate.”
The Potters are currently sitting at the 13th spot in the table, after having pocketed just 4 points out of a possible 15.
