my stomache muscles feel exactly like when i pull a muscle in my leg, or strain my legs, and i can't stand up straight, and it hurts when i lay down or sit.

it's in front of where my rib cage is.

what can i do to lessen the pain?

i already took tylenol, and acetaminophen, and i tried ibuprofen yesterday, and none of them worked.

help please!

  1. Why not try some moist heat. Take a towel, soak it with hot water, ring it out then lay the towel across where you feel the pain. It sounds like muscles for sure, but can be other things. Maybe you sneezed or coughed hard during sleep, and didn't realized it until you awoke. If it was a hernia, you should be able to lay on your back and cough while feeling for a lump that will raise with each cough. You could have an intestinal infection like Diverticulitis, or just plain on gas pains.Try the moist heat. Lay a hot moist towel across your stomach several times, and at least two times a day. If the pain and discomfort continues, better have a Doctor check things out. I wish for you the very best young lady and hope the pain goes away on it's own as quick as it came. Good luck to you.

  2. Well, how did you pull it , if you did to many sit-ups of or something to do w exercise then you have to try to stretch and take a warm or hot bath w Epsom salt

  3. I did this recently, too.  Alleve and a warm bath/shower worked best for me.  It took me about 3 or 4 days to fully recover.  I think that a heating pad would have helped too (but I didn't have one).  If you don't have Alleve, I would try ibuprophen again (Advil or Midol, or whatever you've got).  I did a little stretching as the muscles healed, but only after the hot shower.  Good luck.  It will go away soon.  Mine went away very quickly without any lingering pain by the 4th day.

  4. well idk if this will work now but the best thing to do after u work out is have protein (low fat chocolate milk works best according to womens health) the protein is supposed to repair ur muscles so give it some time and it will hurt less

  5. Since you weren't doing anything out of the ordinary, and it sounds like the pain isn't subsiding based on position, I think you should go in and have it checked out.  There are a couple things that could be very serious if you wait too long.

    Also tylenol is acetaminophen.

  6. maybe a hot pack

  7. I worked out in the Martial arts for 25+ years. Sounds something similar to what I have had a couple of times.

It may not be a pulled muscle but a rib out of place. My first advise is not to see a doctor but a real qualified chiropractor. Not to mention, it may be less expensive that going to a doctor.

Also instead of the medicines mentioned, try doans or Midol, yes I know that sounds funny coming from a guy, it may help until you can see someone.

  8. sounds more like a hernia...
