Question:

Pulling ADDRESSES from FTM 2006?

Is there any way FTM (Family Tree Maker) can pull out a list of the addresses from your research, along with the names of those that were known to be living there?

I would like to go to one of the cities in which my family were living, but before I start trawling through each individuals' notes to find their addresses, I wondered if there was a search I could do that could get me the results.

I'm using the 2006 version.

  1. Hi Lyra,

Not sure if you're looking for historical or more present-day addresses.

    If historical:

FTM has tabs for Facts (like Birth, Baptism, Marriage, Death, Burial...  I even add WWI or WWII registration to that) by person.  One of those tabs is Address.  If you have stored the addresses in the Address tab, I believe you can do a report to give you all those addresses.  FTM does have a wonderful "find" feature where it will find every instance of a word within your file.  I'd try that feature using the name of the city you want to visit, and then just copy and paste into Notepad or Word every time it finds a match.

    If more present-day:

I use FTM in tandem with Ancestry.com - - and it does have public records including names of people in the home, their approximate ages, the address, sometimes the year(s) they were at that address, and also sometimes their phone numbers.  These tend to be fairly recent records, like in the mid-1990s through early 2000's.  (In other words, if FTM is used with Ancestry, you can pull up that information and store it in FTM).

    Hope that helps!
