We have hardwood floors under our carpeting. We ripped up the carpeting and notice that some of the padding is stuck to the floor any ideas on how to unstick it?

  1. scrape it up with a flat shovel

  2. you will need to carefully discern how the padding is attached to the floor.  this will be your clue as to how to remove it.

  3. Well there is this think It is like a scraper. We did that to our room. And it doesnt harm anything. But it just takes it away, because its glued down to the floor.

  4. if it is stapled down, you will have to pull the staples, if it is glued you will have to scrape it up, you can get a floor scraper from home depot or lowes for just that thing.. either way if you want to keep the hardwood floor, you will have to have it refinished..

  5. Get a large putty knife ( new one ).

Gently pull up on the padding and scrape with the knife.

** if it seems to scratch the wood, put masking tape along the knife edge and keep it covered.

Then gently pull up on the padding and scrape it loose.

Then try using lukewarm water and rags to clean up the rest that is stuck ( use that oputty knife again ).

You can use something like Murphy's Soap with the water.

(** do not use ammonia or anything that will cut into any wax on the wood floor. _  do not let the floor puddle or stand wet very long )
