If we did pull out of the war what do you think there would be any physical outcomes of it since technically we would loose ? Basically what im trying to say is if we did pull out wouldn't are risk of being attack on our soil (like 9/11) become alot higher since they have the mentaliality that they beat us on there turf ? Because it makes no sense that we could just go to the middle east, attack a bunch of anti-american's and then pull out with them saying "oh ok good battle".

Wouldn't there basically be so much hate for us that it would lead to basically a WW3 and we would have to go back there to finsh it again.

  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't al-Maliki expressed a desire for a departure of American forces to leave his country?

No, we would not lose.  There is no war going on right now.  Right now, it's a bunch of insurgents who don't want us there any more fighting against an occupying force.  The object of the war to get rid of Saddam.  We completed the objective, we won the war.  We just suck at occupying.

There would not be an elevated risk of us being attacked by al-Qaeda or any other group for actually LEAVING Iraq.  Osama bin Laden's big beef with the United States is that we have a presence in Saudi Arabia.  If anything, our presence in Iraq has angered him even more.

Having our forces leave Iraq would NOT lead to WWIII.  If anything, it would get us further from WWIII than we are right now.  World leaders would not be angered with the United States because we'd be doing what world leaders have been calling for.  Why do you think Obama has so much support from foreign leaders?

  2. So what's the alternative? stay indefinitely in a place where we pay billions of dollars to the majority of rebels to call cease fires, THEY HATE us and want us out of Iraq NOW,

which would free the troops up to go into Afghanistan and get the job done there swiftly, then get the h**l out of there and guard our own backyard.

  3. the world leaders would lose respect for us since we convinced them to help.  we would look bad to the whole world for being in a war and then walk out. this is why i dont agree with obama, niether does the iraqii government.our military spending would lay to waste also.

AND. people swear like if we leave al quiada and the talaban alone, they will leave us alone

wow a smart person that has common snense, now i like you haha

  4. But you see, we have lost already. It has been over five years since we invaded Iraq, and only now is the premise of withdrawing and leaving a residual U.S. military force even a realistic option. And what will we be leaving? And what have we won?

The original objective was to destroy Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction, which turned out to be virtually non-existent; then, the goal became to "free Iraq" of Saddam Hussein's regime, and we left a bloody sectarian civil war in its place for years.

The last "goal" promoted by the Bush Administration to justify the invasion of Iraq was to help spread democracy in Iraq and the immediate region, and this has failed. The political structures that have emerged are sectarian, corrupt, and nothing that would approximate our idea of a real "democracy" will be blossoming there any time soon. We have managed to pull together truces and balances of power amongst Iraq's religious militias, and that has at least quelled the bloodiest violence.

So, what does victory in Iraq actually entail? There is no victory anymore, there is only withdrawal. The only point of debate left is how quickly, so that hopefully what little stability Iraq now has - after six years - won't be squandered. It is a military and political blunder on a massive scale, and the entire world knows this.

  5. How do you define "winning"? First we were told "winning" would be making us safer by eliminating the "deadliest weapons known to man", which turned out not to exist. Then we were told "winning" would be when Sadaam was no longer ruler. Then we were told "winning" would be when the Iraqi people embraced democracy and welcomed us with open arms. Now we're told we can't leave because we would "lose", but never told what the criteria for "winning" actually is.
