Pulling spotted spurge and seeding?

Question

I am trying to bring back my yard to a thinker lawn. I have patches of spotted spurge and would like to know if pulling it and seeding would do the trick if I keep up on pulling out new spurge growth until the grass comes in. I live in NJ and do not want to kill the whole lawn and start over. But I was told spurge was hard to get rid of.

Sure.  I would dig it up, lay down good compost, and reseed.
