Punching determined to thrive in Dimension Handicap
Punching looks to be determined to punch his rivals down and elevate to top position in the Warren Board New Dimension Handicap. The Class 6 contest over a distance of 5 furlongs and 13 yards will take place at Nottingham racecourse on Tuesday, May 22.
The Conor Dore-trained bay gelding has run on the good track of Nottingham for just once in his long career that began in April 2007. He finished 3rd over there against 15 rivals while being a 5-2 favourite. This reveals that the brilliant horse can do well again today.
Moreover, the talented son of Kyllachy out of Candescent has been in good form since the last couple of months. After getting a runner-up position each on March 13 and April 3, the 97-race veteran sprinter bagged two back-to-back triumphs in April.
These outstanding feats have further hiked the horse’s confidence level. Overall, he has 13 classic victories to his name.
Thus, the current situation entirely goes to Punching’s favour. If he manages to capitalise on this, he will surely be able to seal a success today along with a prize cheque worth £1,617.
However, some of the horse’s competitors like Boucher Garcon and Bilash look to be strong enough and they can give tough time to him.
Boucher Garcon has won 2 of his total 13 starts so far. The trainee of Declan Carroll accomplished both the victories in a row during April 2012. The maverick horse stepped ahead to grab three runner-up positions in the subsequent outings.
However, one thing goes to his advantage---he last ran on Nottingham ground and finished 2nd just on May 12. As a whole, he has three outings at this venue.
On the other hand, Bilash owns just one victory that came on Nottingham track in May 2011. The Reg Hollinshead-trained grey horse grabbed a 5th and a 6th position in his last two starts during September 2011.
Supposedly, there will be a tough battle among these three runners but Punching is likely to manoeuvre success to his favour emphatically. The competition will draw a big bankroll along with a number of spectators.
