Punching to excel against the strong chances of Jo Hughes’ team in the Deal Or No Deal Totepool.Com Handicap
Competing at Southwell in the Deal Or No Deal Totepool.Com Handicap on Tuesday, 10th July are nine three-year and older contestants. Two out of all the contestants for the race have a reasonably decent record when it comes to racing at Southwell, Punching and Beachwood Bay.
Kyllachy’s eight-year-old bay gelding has raced fifteen times during the new season, and that too primarily at Southwell. His seasonal debut was in the Blue Square Winter Carnival Iphone App Claiming Stakes on 3rd January at Southwell over six furlongs.
The race was won by Dickie Le Davoir while Punching ended fourth in the field of six contestants.
After failing for nine more times during the season, the bay gelding out of mare, Cansdescent, won the 32Red Casino Claiming Stakes on 10th April, 2012 at Southwell over six furlongs. With jockey, Hayley Turner onboard, the eight-year-old went tactfully through the challenges in the final furlong.
The duo that took off from the seventh gate dominated the field of six by 1 ½ lengths.
Finishing the closest to the winner was, Ghostwing while filling the third slot was, Riflessione.
The Conor Dore trained then landed the Dine At Southwell Racecourse Selling Stakes on 17th April, 2012 at Southwell over six furlongs. This time he won as the favourite with the same jockey, Hayley Turner. His tact of being prominent during the final furlong pulled successfully this time too as he took charge of the final ¾ of a length.
Both the races at Southwell before the back to back strike were second scores, otherwise claiming a hat trick at the race course was not a far flung target. The 9 to 2 entry will be accompanied by Hayley Turner once again. The two have been allotted the first stall to break from, and will need to look out for Beachwood Bay who is backed by 7 to 1 odds.
Tobougg’s bay gelding won the Place Only Betting At Bluesq.Com Handicap on 23rd February at Southwell over seven furlongs. The Jo Hughes trained escaped defeat by the margin of a length.
The trainer has enjoyed a 44% strike rate at the race course in the last fortnight and where will Beachwood Bay take the rate today, still needs to unfold.
