Enormously delighted over starting their Indian Premier League campaign on a winning note, Pune Warriors skipper Yuvraj Singh regarded his bowlers as the major source of their victory over his former outfit Kings XI Punjab.
Yuvraj and company thrashed Kings XI convincingly by 7 wickets in the fifth match of the ongoing fourth edition of the League.
The Pune bowlers did a fantastic job, bowling the whole Punjab side out for a small total of 112. None of the Kings’ batsmen could survive in front of outstanding bowling from the young http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Alfonso-Thomas-c991. In response, the Pune
Warriors who are playing their first IPL, overwhelmed the target in 13.1 overs, registering a win in their first-ever match in the League.
The Pune captain gave full credit to his bowlers and said, “Nice to get a first win. Our bowlers picked up early wickets and set the momentum. It was a good toss to lose and we bowled wicket to wicket according to our plans.”
Yuvraj hoped that the team would continue with the good work in future IPL matches. After beating the Adam Gilchrist-led Kings XI Punjab, the Pune Warriors are scheduled to lock their horns with Kochi Tuskers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kerala-c803 on Wednesday, 13 April, 2011.
Yuvraj, who played a significant role in India’s recent ICC World Cup 2011 glory, also heaped praise to Mithun Manhas for scoring a marvellous innings of 35 from 32 balls.
The skipper, who won the Man of the Tournament award in the ICC World Cup 2011, described that he has been enjoying his cricket with the new IPL entrants Pune Warriors.
“First two years when I was captain of Kings, I took too much pressure and got distracted on the field,” added Singh.
Yuvraj, who led Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 in the first two editions, played under Kumar Sangakkara’s leadership in the third edition of the IPL for Punjab.
Both Sangakkara and Yuvraj are now representing two different teams. Yuvraj is leading the Pune Warriors whereas Sangakkara is shouldering his responsibility as captain for Deccan Chargers.
