Pune Warriors’ captain Yuvraj Singh takes the blame for loss against Chennai Super Kings: IPL-4 News
Pune Warriors skipper Yuvraj Singh has admitted that he should have taken the responsibility to finish the game with the bat, as his team fell 25-run short to Chennai Super Kings, on last night.
Chasing Super Kings’ total of 142, Yuvraj and company could only manage to reach 117 for nine in 20 overs. The Warriors took a terrible start to the run chase and lost four crucial wickets in the first six overs.
Yuvraj provided his team with some chance by chipping in with a steady knock in the middle of the innings, however, he was not able to shift the momentum to other players and maintain it until the end.
The Pune captain, who played an uncharacteristic innings of 34 from 43 balls, takes the blame for not being able to save his team from their third defeat in the Indian Premier League.
"It`s difficult to come back once you are four down inside the first six overs. I should also take a lot of blame for not being able to finish the match. This has happened for the third time now that I have started off well but couldn`t finish off the match,"
Yuvraj said.
Yuvraj, however, did not show any regrets over deciding to bowl first after winning the toss. He described that the bowlers bowled fantastically and 143 was a get-able total.
"I have no regrets for opting to field first. Our bowlers Jerome (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915), Rahul (Sharma) and Alfonso (Thomas) bowled. I believed that 143 was not that big a score," the India’s World Cup hero added.
Meanwhile, Yuvraj's counterpart http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 is happy that his team is back on the winning track.
With third loss in the ongoing competition, Pune Warriors have now slipped down to third spot from the bottom in the IPL standings.
Yuvraj further stated that the defeat was quite unfortunate and the team cannot afford losing too many games in a row.
However, the classy batsman hoped that the players would come to the field with a better commitment in the next game. Pune Warriors are scheduled to interact with Chennai Super Kings yet again on Wednesday.
