Punishment for violating a protection order in texas?

my ex violated the protection order, he has no previous criminal record.. what do you think he will get off with? it wasn't a NO CONTACT he was only soposed to stay away 200 ft from my house or job.. the violation was that he came knocking at my door. what are the odds that he'll get jail time? do you think he might get off with probation or a fine first?

  1. the punishment is up to the judge or jury.

  2. Had he been served with the order?  If yes, you should have called the police as soon as the act happened.  They won't arrest him based on heresay.

  3. The courts are usually stern on these type offenses. He may either get a hefty fine, to make him think twice about violating the court order, or maybe some jail time to let him sit and think about what he did. Or possibly both. Proctection orders are there for a reason, hence the name, they are not just okay one time and then later, oh no i didn't mean for him to go to jail.

  4. give your attorney all proof of the violation and seek her advice.

  5. this is not breaking any laws. it is a violation of a court order. it is up to the judge to say how much or if any time.
