Punk Rock American male wanting to visit Tokyo, Japan?

I would really like to visit Tokyo one day, but I am unsure of what areas I should visit. I would like to visit some areas with punk rock venues and counter culture types of people. Can anyone give me some advice on this? Also, I'm not sure how the youth will treat me at these venues. Are they generally nice to Americans? I have a friend who visited Japan and she told me I would probably have a hard time keeping girls away from me because I'm A. Skinny B. About 6' and C. Have a giant 'fro and dress like Bob Dylan as a punk rocker lost in 1970's. Is this true, because I don't really want it to be. I want to go so I can experience the sights, etc. not hit on Japanese girls (well okay maybe a little). Basically can anyone help me out with areas of Tokyo I should visit?

  1. Akihabara...    :)

  2. Punk rock fashion is out in Tokyo now. The similar but different thing like Gothic-Punk or Gothic-Metal is also not mainstream.

Many Otaku young are freak to do cos-play(costume performance) for anime characters.

Harajuku, Shibuya and Shinjuku even Roppongi or Akasaka, there is seldom punk rock venues nowadays. Here are some Live spots in Tokyo. (not only for rock music)

    Akihabara, Club Goodman

Japanese young girls love to love sweet looking American guys who never smell bad. Wash your body, cut nails and brush your teeth well enough.

  3. Dude, you will LOVE harajuku. I'm kinda punk myself, and they have lots of people with crazy clothes and hair, girls walking around looking like dolls (harajuku dolls), girls who are very tan (ganguro), etc. You should look a little into Japanese street fashion and other styles like gothic lolita. I know I bought lots of wicked merch in Harajuku when I was there last year, you will probably fit in with the crowd quite nicely.

I have to warn you, however, that Japan is a very conservative society overall and you will probably be looked down upon by many of the people (especially the older generations), and you will get LOTS of stares with your chosen style of dress. Its not gonna be a huge problem in Tokyo I don't think, just enjoy yourself, see some good Jrock concerts, and defiantely hit up Harajuku.
