Punt and kicker(football)?

like i know kinda what they both do but whats the main difference?

  1. Kickers Kick the ball off after touchdowns, at the beginning of games and the 3rd quarter, and kick field goals

  2. Basically a kicker kicks the ball off of a kicking tee or the ground.  He's used for kickoffs and fieldgoals.

    A punter has the ball snapped to him and he kicks the ball by dropping it and swinging his leg up to meet the ball.  Punting is done at change of possession when a team doesn't think they can make the first down.  A punt is also used when a team has a safety scored on them.

  3. A punter kicks the ball on 3rd down to give up possession, this is a defensive move for a team, the punter kicks for distance to further the opposing team from there goal line. Where as a kicker kicks for points such as field goals and pat's (points after touchdown) they may also preform the kickoff at the beginning of a half or after a point is scored.
