Puppy Litter Boxes?HELP?

Question

I want to litter box train a maltese i am getting this summer. Can i put the box inside of its crate but far from his/her sleeping place? I dont want to have to wake up at 3 AM to take the dog out because it night i am going to have it stay in the crate. Will the litter box in the crate work? and how do they know to pee/poo in there?

you can but pads they look like a big rug and let your puppy go an do his thing on there a few times and it will go there, here in my building alot of elderlys have small dogs and can not take them out so they but those paperthings, your petstore should know what there called and a doggy that small can be litter trained to, it also depends how big your crate is if the dog has alot of room to get arround then it is ok but if you train it right away it will know, those peoble here who use those pads never even take there dog outside unless its warm and it wont leave a bad smell either, everyone i talked to say to me the work like a charm cause i been asking, and thinking of getting a mini yorky, i hope that helped a litle, good luck and have a nice day.

call a dog trainer if you get the right person to work with you it is unbelieveable the things your dog will do

My family got a puppy on thanksgiving and we were going to do that but the people said it would be too hard.  We use the puppy pee-pee pads.  You can buy them at alot of places and their are varities at the pet stores.  I suggest you use those.  My puppy(a female shihtzu) caught on qucikly and within a week was using those easily.  Good Luck!!

puppies are like newborn children, in that you HAVE to get up with them.  

DO NOT teach your dog to potty inside it's crate, you will never be able to break it of this habit.
