my puppy is half poodle, and has ala apso , and schnouzer, i had surgery on my wrist last thursday and i couldnt get a hold of my boyfriend to drop him off at house so i got him a kennel and he was going to stay there until my boyfriend could get him, they told me his shots were over due and so i told them go ahead give him his shots, so i was at the hospital thinking since hes already there why not get him groomed, so i called and asked if i can go ahead and get him groomed, so they said sure i told them, all i wanted was a trim, bc his hair was super long, so i wanted just a little bit cut off, andthen i wanted a mohawk on his head but just a baby one, well they got the mohawk right but im sooo angry, when my boyfriend called me and told me he picked him up his hair was super short, how long do you guys think this will take him to grow back?

before hair cut:

  1. Seriously, no longer than 4-5 weeks, but will look better in about 2 weeks.  This happened to our lhasa when we took her to a different groomer once.  She was so short you could see the freckles on her back.  When she got home, she hid in her kennel for the better part of 3 days (bad hair day).  This too shall pass!

I take a picture any time I have to use a new groomer.  You need to know what # razor length you like so you can tell them.  I also have a copy of my groomer's notes so that I know what she does and what to tell anyone else who would groom her.

  2. He'll be ready for another trim in about 6 weeks. Was he matted at all? Because sometimes it's easier on the dog just to clip them short than be tugging all the tangles out & hurting them. He's real cute by the way.

  3. I would say probably atleast a few months for it to grow back to the length it was before.  My mini schnauzer/chow mix was hit by a car and they had to shave part of his head and its been about two months since that happened and his hair is now about half an inch long[from his scalp to the end of the hair].  It will take a while.

But I cannot believe someone would actually cut a dog like that?!

He's one of the most adorable dogs I've ever seen! I hope his hair grows back fast!!!

  4. well it looks like he was younger in that first pic was he????? and as a groomer id say the cut looks right and per your request a trimming "short hair cut"....your boyfriend or you must not have specified that you only wanted "a little" cut off....now it look like a #5 or number 7 blade was taken on his body so your lookin at a few week to see groth back...groomers do not get into the business to "shave down dogs" we learn technique and it takes years to learn it...

  5. Oh, don't be mad! He is so darned cute either way. You probably were used to the way he looked with his hair longer, and I can see why you would be shocked. Take a good long look at him and you gotta see how precious he is even with his hair cut. It will be growing out in a short while. When I took my pup to have him groomed the first time, I got online and went to several sites with pics of dogs, and when I found the dog that had the cut I wanted my pup to have, I printed the pic and took it to the groomer. I got no surprises that way.

  6. About two to three weeks. normally hope everything works out.
