Puppy training going backwards?

Question

Got a pup at 6 weeks old. She is now almost 5 months old..Everything has gone great. Potty trained, crate trained for sleeping, knows some commands and listens to them (sit, lay, down, stay, come and a few more) she's been great.. All of a sudden the commands fall on deaf ears, she doesn't come when called, continues to jump up when told down, and lately she has been running off, today into the street and a car was coming. I will leash her for now on I promise. I will continue the normal training such as ignoring her when bad and not praising her for bad behavior.. My question is why is she not listening now? What's going on ? Is this normal ? She is a pom and chawawa mix..

The problem is that she is hitting the doggy equivalence of "the terrible two's." She is trying to establish her own dominance over yours. This is not ok behavior, and you just need to really crack down on the training. Be firm and let her know that you are the boss and that she NEEDS to listen. Definitely keep her on the leash at all times. A dog should always be on a leash anyways, but especially if you have a trust issue with her. Keep up the training, and try to spend some extra time with her. Keep up the routine; schedules are imperative for dogs. Good luck.

This is normal.  It's the 'teenage' phase.  Just be consistent and keep at the training,she'll grow out of it, but as you've noticed, she should be leashed until she's done rebelling.

sounds just like my dog a few months ago, my dog is now just over a year old but she when thou the exact same stage, so i got advise from a tutor at college as i am a animal care student,

just carry on what your doing when you say a command don't give it up till your dog dose as you told her to do no matter how long it takes or how pointless it feels after a while carry it on or she will learn you will give up after a while,

with the lead thing get a long piece or rope and attach it to her collar so she has a a lot of space but cant run off, then every know and again call her till she comes to you, when she comes give her a treat she will then learn to come back when called when she is coming back every time try it off the lead if it didn't work start again with the rope she will then get the point that if she comes bk she wont have to be on the rope.

this is normal, i have a golden retriever so my dog hit puberty later but as you have a small dog she would of hit puberty about now i should think and as the summer is here there are a lot of smells about so she will be distracted all the time,

I shall prepare myself for best answer. Huhmmm Like females of any species hormones can and do affect behavior. Dogs experience their first heat at 6-12 months of age. There may not be much bleeding if any but she is more than likely in heat!
