  1. if i was you i would restart potty training , i dont like using pee pads for this exact reason it encourages them to pee in the house and thats not good... start training him to pee outside, take him out right before you go to school then bring him in and crate him, make sure he has something soft to lay on and plenty of toys to play with.. when you get home from school take him outside to potty, play with him and do it again for work right before you leave and right when you get home.. he'll start to learn that going inside is no longer acceptable.

  2. The best product I have seen that will help you with this problem is called Happy Jack Dog Diapers. They work like a charm, and are very well made. Take a look at the testimonials on the website:

    http://www.BestDogDiapers.com

    They are good for:

    TERRITORIAL MARKING

    INCONTINENCE

    MEDICAL ISSUES

    EXCITABLE URINATION

    HOUSEBREAKING

  3. when he poos ... put the poo on the paper and take him to it.. but you have to make sure you catch him in the act.. if he is wee ing in the same spot.. put the paper over it.. he can smell it and he will use the paper in that spot.. you could also give him a treat when you catch him wee ing on the paper or poo ing on the paper. reward him for doing good things ! Good Luck

  4. You can get a crate and use that as a tool to help. Do not smack him or rub his nose in it. As mentioned someone taught him to go in the house, he strayed off the paper which if you are not there, usually happens. You will need someone to help out if you are gone that much. Pups require a lot of work and attention at that age. They have very little bladder and bowel control. It is not his fault. Please don't hit him. Get someone to help. He needs to be taken out every 2-3 hours. I am not criticizing that is just the way it is. When I adopted my second dog I knew I would have to be able to provide her with a way to get out to go otherwise I wouldn't be able to have her. You will just have to figure out a way. Good Luck, I know this training can be challenging but it is worth it in the long run.

Midwest is riight about giving a small space and gradually increasing space as he learns. That is exactly the way I trained my girls. I have a 11 yr. old yellow lab and a 2 yr. old pit-lab mix. They bring so much happiness to our lives.

  5. You have to expect some answers like that as people are passionate about pets and there will always be someone to tell you youre doing something terrible. Your situation isnt ideal for a dog, but the fact is that a lot of people's situations arent perfect, and if it was only the people who were able to spend 24/7 with pet, had a dog....... virtually NO ONE would have one! Providing you tire him out (when hes old enough) leave him with things to occupy him etc and spend as much time as you can with him then you are doing ok. The fact that you are asking questions on here, shows that you care about him. Me and my husband had an upstairs (large) flat when our Jack Russell was a puppy. We bought puppy pads which helped loads as they have a scent on them which encourages the puppy to pee on them. They are quite dear though! We have since moved to a house with a garden and i cant tell you how much better it is with a pup. Youll see the difference. For now though, try to persist with him. If you catch him weeing where he shouldnt, pick him up and put him on the pad, then stroke him and tell him hes a good boy. He'll get it quicker than if you punish him, trust me! Little dogs are clever.. h**l get there. It has taken our J. Russell a year to hold her pee overnight fully without any hiccups, it has only taken our Miniature Pinscher a few months. Theyre all different. Good luck with him, dont give up. xxxxxx

  6. Are you using just regular paper or is it the actual puppuy training pads? If it is the puppy training pads then try a new brand. When he does his business on the pad and your right there it might help if you say good boy and give him a treat so he knows he's doing the right thing. Hope that helps.

  7. you need a doggie door and fence so he/she cant get out

  8. Well your first mistake is having a puppy you can't train..have a pet sitter or someone come in two times a day to let him go outside it is healthier and cleaner and he gets confused because you have him in and out..ALSO NEVER hit a dog or rub his nose in anything ever..so he is being punished for peeing?UGH that doesn't work he has to pee! How in the world is he supposed to know that paper is ok outside is ok and not some other place..think about it! they are dogs..they are like new children..and then you are un intentionally i am sure confusing the life out of him..

Just let him pee inside if that's an option and if he happens to go outside fine but is what you want a dog that pees indoors? If so put the papers he uses in a cat litter type box assuming he must be small..tearing a small piece from a used paper always in the bottom of a litter box and he will start using it because his sent is on it.

Also you can put the papers down and line around some way so he realizes it is his area..never move the area and take something he has peed on and put it with the papers.

You r dog is like a 3 year old if that it is sad he cannot go out or have someone go over to make sure he learns the right way but just please don't do that nasty stuff to that poor baby, he doesn't have a clue why you are being mean to him!  good luck

  9. First of all do not smack him. He will not respect you in the long run for this.  Try getting him a crate to stay in while you are gone.  Just one big enough for him to lay in and turn around in.  Leave him a few toys in it while you are gone.  No food or water.  He will be fine.  Take him out as soon as you get home and let him outside about every hour to go potty while you are home and soon you should not need paper at all.  Always praise him with a treat when he does his business the way he shoul. Just be patient. He may have a few accidents at first until he gets used to it but he will catch on.  He will soon learn that the crate is his place when you are gone and he will not mess in it because he will not want to lie in it.  Patience is the main thing.  Please don't smack your puppy, just a good stern NO will do. Hope this advice works for you. I have 3 rottis and all of them are housebroken and this is the method we used and it does work.  Good Luck!

  10. There is a special odor-liquid thing that you can put on puppy pads and on newspaper that dogs like that will make them want to pee there. I suggest that you find some of this at your pet store and put that on the paper to see if it makes any difference.

When he goes in side make sure that you disinfect all the areas where he goes. If he can still smell the places where he has previously gone he will go there time and time again.

Please don't push his nose in it, or hit him. That's what he uses to smell his food and find his way around, it would mess around with him to have that done to him. If he's still a young puppy then he's still learning what is right and what is a big no-no. He's also just a baby, baby's make mistakes. In theory it's just like how you were potty trained when you were a kid. If you made a mistake, you weren't punished for it. I'm not trying to sound mean, I'm just trying to help you form a good bond with your little pup that you will have for the rest of your life.

  11. I have a 6 year old chihuahua, and they are difficult to house train.  Although, paper training shouldn't be very difficult.  I would also suggest crate training as well.  It's not cruel, to him that is his bedroom.  Dogs don't pee where they sleep (or they try not to).  The other thing you could do is give him a little bit more space than a crate and get an X pen, and put pee pads on one side, and a bed on the other.  That way he has room to roll and play, but still you can control the messes.  Dogs need to be introduced to large areas very slowly or they will go back on their housebreaking.  The problem with leaving him in your room is that it is too much space.  Put the x pen in your room if you would like, and slowly once he doesn't have any accidents make the space bigger and bigger until it could eventually be the entire house.

Puppies have a very short attentions span and memory. If you push his nose in it later, he does not understand what you mean.  You need need to catch him in the act and say no firmly, but thats it.  Anything more could hurt him, and he may not want to go to the bathroom at all!

  12. Take 2 weeks off of work and train your dog

2 weeks you may ask if you go with for 2 weeks itll sink into your brain

  13. when ur dog does something bad infront of u look at them and point at them and say bad dog thats what i did and my dog is so good now u have to do it a few times

  14. First...puppies should be adopted after they are eight weeks old. Be warned, if your dog is going to grow big, they might get a biting problem due to not playing with his littermates. What I did with my puppy was if he ever was peeing, or about to pee, etc. I tried carrying him to the paper, but that didn't work so well. Otherwise, I brought the paper to him and slightly pushed him onto the paper so that he peed on the paper. Then, encourage him that he's done a good job. Later on I kept moving the paper to a corner where his "pee spot" was. So then he was trained. Make sure to SCRUB DOWN your puppy's pee so that no trace of it is left behind (and by this I meant SCRUB DOWN THE PLACES PEE SHOULDN'T BE)!

What's with the thumbs down? I've written the whole truth down, jeeze. People get dumber everyday

  15. you are breaking his trust in you by rubbing his nose and smacking him,,,, that is abusive.

you TRAINED him to pee inside,,,  that is what papers and pads do....  so he is doing exactly what you want him to do.. he is never going to just use the papers  he has learned that peeing in the house is what you trained him to do..

you do not have enough time for a dog...  rehoming might be a better choice for all concerned
