  1. Demodex can always come back, but usually only occurs after treatment when some kind of stress brings it on.  Just keep a close eye on him and if you see any recurrance, treat it immediately...that will save you time and money in the long run.  Best of luck!

  2. Sure it can come back.  I remember when you originally posted this pic a while back...cute dog.  So anyway, one good way to prevent is to use Revolution as your dog's heartworm and flea/tick preventive.  Heartguard also has Ivermectin in it.

  3. It's extremely unlikely, but not unheard of.

All dogs carry Demodex; but their immune system usually keeps it in check.  So unless the puppy becomes unusually stressed or malnourished, the infestation shouldn't flare up again.

Fun trivia: Humans have their own species of Demodex; they live at the base of your eyelashes...

  4. Yes it can come back!  I have a dog that has it and ivermectin keeps it in check.  If you haven't done any research on it you should, there is a lot of information out there on it.  DO NOT BREED the dog!

  5. i didnt look at the pics but this kind of mange is very hard to get rid of. Dogs arw born with it but most build up an ammunity to it so they never show signs and others will end up getting it. Just keep in mind that it can come back at any time. Consult your vet and see if he/she can reffer you to a dermatologist it may get very expensive but thats if it starts to come back or you cant get it under control anymore.

    Good Luck

  6. Yes it can and probably will.  This isn't a disease actually caused by the mite, it is caused by a weak immune system. Ivermectin is a wonder drug for the problem.  And it will work again if the dog has a recurrence.
