Purchased kids furniture online and never received it...can I get my money back?

In December my husband and I purchased a children's bed from an online furniture company. They said it would take 10-12 weeks to ship because it was coming directly from the manufacturer and they would contact us to confirm a delivery date. Fast forward to March of this year, we called to inquire on the status of our furniture delivery and were told that it would ship the end of March. We waited until May and still nothing. I tried calling them at that point and got no answer so I went to their website and it was gone. When I Googled the company's name I was directed to several message boards with many postings by people who had also paid money for furniture that was never delivered and now the company is supposedly bankrupt. I paid with a debit card so I'm not entitled to reimbursement at this point. I've contacted the Florida Attorney General's office and he is not able to help. I'm truly at a loss now...is there any way that I can get my money back from Kidsquartersonline.com?

  1. Depending on where bankruptcy proceedings are, you can add your name as a creditor, but it is unlikely you'll get much, if anything.

That's the downside of paying with a debit, versus a credit card.

You might want to check with your homeowners insurance, though, some have clauses which cover fraud.
