I am looking at an EOS 40D on-line, are these lenses any good? What else should I buy to go along with a package like this?

  1. you can compare with Amazon shop.

  2. It's an ok deal and here's why.

The canon 40d can be had right about the one thousand dollar mark give or take with nothing, just the body.

The lenses are cheap entry level canon. It's stuff you might not be happy with down the road, and you'll end up buying new glass anyway. The 50mm prime will be sharp, the other two, who knows.

    The extras are no-name stuff.

Two things I would do. Skip this, and get the lowest price on the body only. Look for a Canon 50mm prime lens to start off with while you shop around or save for a good zoom from Canon, sigma or tamron.

Next, you might want to wait. Canon just annonced the 50d. It now has a true high quality LCD. It looks like the exact same lcd that first showed up in Sony's A700 dslr, then on the Nikon d300, and the D3.

The canon also sports other improvements, check it out before you dive into the 40d. If anything, this will cause the price of the 40d to soften up a bit.
