Is this a good purchase? I am looking for a kayak that can hold up well in the ocean and I would be able to go long distances in, however I am not knowledgeable on the various types of kayaks and brands.

  1. Link doesn't work.

Generally touring kayaks are longer, and have a much more pronounced keel which helps them to track better, thus making it easier to paddle long distances.

  2. Frenzy Specs from the manufacturer:

The OK Frenzy is actually made for surfing... It's short and fat: you could GO long distances, as long as you don't mind that it will take forever to get there!

  3. anything that is the brand Pelican is a great kayak. I have 3 Pelican kayaks and they are awesome not one of them has flipped over ever, and they are great for using in the ocean and fresh water

  4. There are many sources for 'sea kayaks'. Visit a watersport shop. Better yet, attend a sea kayak school. Most schools provide really good equipment. You will get a chance to try different brands.  Perhaps you can buy used equipment. Advertise: Sea kayak wanted!

  5. Look for a touring kayak if you want to paddle long distances with a good level of stability or a whitewater for surfing. A good way to do it is just google local kayak retailers allot of them have demo boats people can try out to get a feel for which type you want.
