Purchasing a used car in AZ- Am I required to pay "Doc" fees?

I thought when buying a used car, we are to only pay for Sales Tax, Title & Registration. The dealer i spoke with this morning, quoted me a "$499 Doc Fee" + Sales Tax + Title/Reg. Please advise.

This is a rip-off --- AVOID AVOID AVOID....... The state documents a licenced dealer will give you DO NOT cost that much. Yes he does have to pay for these documents but they do not cost that much....   I see dealers on ebay requiring "document" fees.... This is because they are usualy selling the car for someone else and thats where there profit is - is in the fees....... I know times are tough but this document fee stuff is a new level of sleaze...... WALK!

That is just a way for them to stick you.

This fee is TOTALLY unrelated to the $20 that DMV charges them to file the title.

Just another dealer add on.
