  1. Well you have to give it as without that the transaction won't be complete. But try to use the card on a site which is not well known as they might not have proper security in place to protect your card.

Some banks now-a-days have a facility where in you can make a temporary Card Number for such online transaction which gets discontinued after one use, so once you have have used it it becomes useless, check if you bank has that facility.

  2. Giving personal info such as credit card numbers or social security number is always risky on line. If you are positive that you are giving the numbers to a legitimate company through a trusted encrypted site then it should be safe however if there are any doubts whatsoever about the company or the website and whether its a safe encrypted site then I would hesitate to give those numbers. Be VERY cautious. There are lots of hackers on line just trying to steal your ID and personal bank account numbers etc and its called phishing.

  3. I regularly use my credit card on-line, and on a lot of sites I must give them the 3 digit code to finish processing the transaction.  As yet, I have not had a problem (knock on wood).

Just make sure you are on a website that you trust, and you can see the security encryption icon for the site. It's usually at the top of your web browser and looks like a padlock. Move your cursor over it and it should indicate that the site is secure. If you don't have that, then it may be a phisher site trying to steal your credit card info.

  4. They need that code from you to assure you're actually the one in possession of the card, and didn't just somehow catch a glimpse of someone's card and write down the numbers (assuming you didn't see both sides...)

After all, that's why it's called a security code.

BUT, and I think this goes without saying, only make a purchase online when it's a reputable company that you truly trust.

  5. They won't let you proceed without it, so there's no choice. It's all encrypted; only the person with the other-end encryption key can read it.

They send your credit card number through a verification process- VISA has its own. If you got the card number by hacking, you won't have the 3-digit security code.

    That's what they say!

  6. Yes, it's okay. you need to give it to them..

  7. yep , just dont give it to people askin for it if ur not buyin anything,
