Purdue Boilermakers likely to start Sean Robinson
Purdue Boilermakers head coach Danny Hope says that he is leaning towards starting true freshman quarterback Sean Robinson in the club’s game against the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday 6 November.
The Boilermakers starting quarterback Rob Henry is still struggling with a laceration on his throwing hand, which limited his playing time in the club’s 44-10 loss to the Illinois Illini on 30 October. Henry is reportedly still feeling discomfort in the
hand and it is affecting his throwing motion. The freshman suffered the injury in a game against the Ohio State Buckeyes on 23 October.
“The situation’s the same, [Henry] still has the same injury with the same amount of discomfort,” said the head coach. “So with that in mind, rather than assume that he might be able to play on Saturday, we’re assuming that he’s not. If he can, that’s gravy,
but we’ll get Sean Robinson ready to go.”
The Boilermakers have struggled with injuries at the quarterback position all year. The club’s original starter Robert Marve was knocked out for the season after sustaining a knee injury in a game against the Toledo Rockets on 25 September.
The Boilermakers have felt the effects of not having a legitimate starting quarterback in their line-up for most of the season. The squad currently sits at 4-4 with a 2-2 record against conference opponents, which places them sixth in the Big Ten.
Moreover, Purdue has been terrible on offence, ranking 115th in the country in passing yards, averaging a mere 136.9 yards per game. In addition, the club is ranked 106th in the country in points for per game, managing an average of
18.1 per contest.
So far this season Henry has recorded 501 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions, while Robinson has tallied 82 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.
