Ok i need help with t his problem

Your task is to plant a mixture of 30% western wheatgrass, 20% Indian ricegrass and 50% needleandthread at the rate of 275 pure live seeds per square meter.

How many pure live seeds per hectare of each species do you want to plant?

  1. 55 Indian ricegrass seed

    82.5 or (83 since you can't plant 1/2 of a live seed) western wheatgrass

    137.5 (or 138) needleandthread seed

    To plant that many live seed you would have a germination test run on the seed or there should be a percentage of live seed on the tag on the bag. Then you would have to adjust the number of actual seed you planted to get the number of actual live seed. For example if the needlaandthread seed had a germination percentage of 92% you would have to plant 138/.92= 150 actual seeds to get 138 live seed.


  2. When figuring PLS, don't forget to include the purity in the calculation as well as the germination.
