  1. If that's what purebred meant.....

  2. the idea of purebred is creepy and weird unless your talking about labradors.

  3. ..

  4. Inbred families are at greater risk for having birth defect or mentally retarded children. People also read in their religions that its looked down upon by their gods, so they think its okay to judge them.

But if theres love then who cares right? Right. :)

  5. Because it leads to a higher death rate in babies or so I believe.

  6. No purebred is not better. Inbreeding is bad for genes. There is an increase in birth defects and other serious problems.

  7. Actually purebreeds are not better - the dogs (for example)  with the least medical/genetic problems are your good ol' heinz 57 mutts.  Diversity of genetic background tends to make individuals healthier.  The same goes for people.  When people marry those closely related to them bad, recessive genes have a much higher chance of showing up.  Read about the Hapsburgs and those cute cousins at the family reunions won't look as cute anymore!!

  8. It's called incest and birth defects.

  9. Nothing if that's all they do.  If they have a relationship that involves any intimacy, then it's pretty strange since there are millions of people out there to marry besides one of your relatives.

Worse off, if they have children, they can expect them to have some serious abnormalities.  Maybe not all of them, but then again...

And their children's, children will have defective genes too.  When you hear about some of the strange conditions and illnesses that people have which are rare - many of them have something to do with inbreeding.

  10. it their cousin you dont marry  family

  11. actually if you married your cousin, that wouldn't be pure bred... that would be insest... and pure bred is like mating a full bred pitbull with another full bred pitbull instead of breeding two different muts...

and maybe ur cousin isnt pure =)

  13. There's a difference between purebred and inbred !

  14. its incest!

  15. You are confusing the terms pure bred and inbred.   Inbred animals (or people) are offspring of closely related parents.  But pure bred has nothing to do with breeding family members.  It just means there is no other BREED mixed in.

By the way inbreeding is taboo for the reason that it causes a high rate of birth defects, aside from the fact that it is just considered disgusting by almost all societies.

  16. You are confusing unrelated terms.  Purebreeding and inbreeding (breeding with a relative) are two different things.  Purebreeding is about pairing non-familial animals with the same traits to produce more with the same traits.  A blond/blue person having kids with another blond/blue person to have blond/blue kids, for example.  Inbreeding is bad because it increases the chances of genetic defects becoming dominant in the offspring.  European royalty from hundreds of years ago were notorious for having poor health and other problems from centuries of inbreeding.

  17. Well, if you marry someone that close in your family it can be genetically harmful to offspring from what I've heard.

  18. In the Bible cousins married on e another. It isn't morally wrong.

Where the stigma comes from is the genetic problems from closedcommunities where they have done this for the last 100 yrs.

  19. Your children could have problems.  However, in a lot of countries people marry their cousins to keep the money in the family and they have many healthy children.  Its just very taboo in the US

  20. Purebred is better for dogs and cats.

  21. Some idiots do it all the time.

It is very common when shes the only available in the valley.

  22. It's because it can cause offspring to have severe diseases.

when two relatives marry, their children would get dna from the same gene pool, so problems that can be corrected from the other parents chromosome will have it to.

essentially their kids would be likely to be deformed, diseases, etc.

also it is looked down upon, and viewed as "barbaric"

  23. In European countries, this is actually not a big deal.  France, Belgium, Sweden, Turkey, and a host of other countries in Europe permit the marriage of first cousins.  British royalty has been marrying first cousins for hundreds of years.

Social conventions are different in the Western Hemisphere.  Westerners are a little more uptight about sexuality, and feel that "if it approaches incest, it must be incest".  Don't get me wrong ... I am completely and utterly opposed to the concept of incest.  But nowhere in my moral code (the Bible) does it claim that the marriage of first cousins is incest.

That said, there are medical reasons for this.  First cousins who marry and have children see a higher incidence of birth defects.

This being the case, you have to admit that the negatives outweigh the positives.  Just because two people are in love, does not give them the right to risk the health of future children.

  24. theres a difference between purebred and inbred. purebreds are talking about dogs. in breds are talking bout a child born of two people blood related. and there fore leads to mutations birth defects and incest. as for your secound question its just wrong cause one you get ugly children and its disgusting. and dude if you cant get a real gf and have to go with cousin than your pathetic

  25. It doesn't as long as it doesn't happen over and over within the family.  You don't have deformed children like people say you will.  Years ago they used to marry cousins to keep the wealth in the families and the bloodline.

  26. The closer the kin, the better the skin eh? *Barf*

Do you happen to be from the maritimes?

  27. thats gross. marry your cousin and have retarded babies..(no offense to anyone)

  28. um, because if you have babys they will have some major problems

  29. inbreeding.   If closely related people marry and have kids then those kids have a much higher chance of developing recessive genetic defects.

  30. there's nothing wrong with marrying your cousin (technically) so long as your kids don't marry their cousin and so on and so on. its  a well know fact that in dogs pedigree are generally unhealthier this is the result of them often being inbred.

when a bady is made half the chromosomes from the mum and half from the dad are mixed to make the babies if the mum and dad's are too similar (eg their related) the baby will be more likely to inherit genetic diseases and more likely to become ill as will have less protection in the form of the immune system

also purebred isnt family its more like 2 blonde haired white people or ginger haired hispanic people ...it doesnt really work with humans as we dont come in different breeds ....

  31. Purebred does not mean you marry a relative it means you marry someone with the same race as you. white-white, black- black, asian- asian
