Question:

Purebreed Breeders In Disgrace - What are your thoughts?

It has been exposed on British TV that a large number of purebred breeders are breeding there dogs as ( inbred dogs ). Using the dogs brothers & sisters - Mothers & Fathers to breed the best purebred dogs. This is causing major defects in the dogs in later life's and and is damaging the dogs temprement. I have a purebred Akita but will not be looking to get a dog that has a mix to it. Maybe a Rottie x Mastif. Apparantly crufts and the like do very little to stop the abuse of these dogs. If you are one of these breeders that is doing this SHAME!

  1. It is a disgrace,,,yes, a lot of breeders do this, and its a shame, will cause temperament and genetic problems later in life.

dogs should not be inbred or line-bred.....I now, brother and sisters and and son and mother should never be bred at all,.,.this is the worse of the breeding you can get.

all the breeders including myself, have bought dogs that are line-bred, means down a lot of generations back, the father and daughter have been bred....but this is to get the breeding of standards correct.

none of my dogs are closer related than 16t generations back, no temperament or genetic problems

if every breeder would just take more care of the breeding this would not be done, and there would be fighting or anyone would be disgraced over this mess.

I know some long time breeders, that none of their dogs are line-breed at all, none are related at all, not as far back as you can check the pedigrees..I have 2 that are line bred, one is 16 generations back and one is 19........I would refuse to take any closer than 12 never.

sorry, "British, have always done this....they just need to be more careful.

  3. That is really not cool for I only get pure breed dogs. But not much of a question you asked
