I have my heart set on a Yorkie. In the winter or other times, is it ok to use the above system so that the dog is not subjected to bad weather?

  1. I don't see why not.. it's actually a really responsible idea... just as long as you train the little guy to use it, it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck and I hope you get your Yorkie!

You know, I think if I had small dogs, I'd just use the litter system all year round so as not to confuse them... but just make sure you walk him or her every day and that he or she gets plenty of sunshine time and exercise outside.

  2. It will ruin any house training you might do with the dog - you're essentially teaching them that going potty in the home is okay, which it should not be.

Honestly, your dog can stand a few minutes outside to potty - may even make him/her go quicker. If you want you can even put a little sweater on the dog. I never used litter training on any of my dogs (Maltese then, Schnauzer mix now.)
