hmmm...perhaps some commas are needed;  I always understood it to be that the people eater was purple, but looking at it now...it DOES appear to eat purple people

But then why are we not asking:  are they FLYING purple people???

if one actually listens to the song at one point the"purple people eater" actually state "im no short short purple people eater" so in that regard i dont suspest he eats any kind of "peoples"at all.

the referance to purple is to the muscle instrument the "purple people eater plays" which is a wind instrument, which well yeah, when learning to play one sometimes turns purple from exhaling your breathe so long to hit the right note;)but i think the analogy of "purple people eater" comes from competeing with other muso's.

the horn would represent the instrument.

the flying would be the buzz from performing live;)

Just regular people, the Purple describes the character itself not it's choice of food ^_^
